High School Library Borrowing Policy 圖書館借閱規則
The KCIS high school borrowing policy serves the purpose of managing the library collection system more effectively and attaining our readership goals.
Rule 1
The library utilizes an open frame management system and readers can pick up materials by themselves using their ID cards at the library circulation desk.
Rule 2
Staff use their employee ID, and students use their school ID to check out items. The ID card cannot be transfered to other people for use; if this occurs, the library has the right to stop the card owner’s borrowing rights for one month. The ID card’s owner has the responsibility to pay any incurred fines.
Rule 3
Current periodicals Newspapers reference…etc, may only be read in the library.

Rule 5
Readers may renew the books online 3 days before the due date (including the due day). The new due date begins from the renewal date. Please note the Date Due form which is on the last page of the book to remind yourself when to return books on time.
Rule 6
The maximum number of books on hold is three. If an item is placed on hold and is not picked up within three days of the "Hold Until" date, the reservation will be cancelled.
Rule 7
Overdue items will cause the loss of borrowing rights from the overdue date, and will accumulate according to the number of books borrowed. For instance, in the case of two books overdue for two days borrowing will be halted for four days.
Rule 8
If the books are overdue 30 days or more, the library will issue a “KCISL Reparation Notice”
Rule 9
Under the borrowing rights cessation period, if the reader want to check out books they will need to carry out volunteer service.
【The Rules for Volunteering】
- Tasks : Helping the library to clean up or put everything back in order.
- Time : Lunch break (last 30 minutes.)
- Terms : One service cancels five overdue days.
- Notice : Need to apply to the library for the service period one day before.
Rule 10
Procedures for lost or damaged books:
- (1) If lost or damaged, Chinese books or media resources need to be replaced or the official price must be paid.
- (2) For English books, the cost may entail import fees.
- (3) If replacing a book or resource:
- - The book must be from the same publisher and be a recent publication (within three months).
- - Teacher books & Multimedia resources: The price will depend on the book dealer, and must be published within three months.
- - Complete set of books: If one book from a series is missing, and only the series is available for purchase, the whole series will need to be purchased.
- (4) Parents’ permission will be required if payment for lost or damaged books is to be withheld from the monthly fee.
Rule 11
For lost or damaged multimedia resources a 50NT handling charge will be charged.
Rule 12
When borrowing library books, the readers need to check if the books have any tearing markings commentaries or other damage, then report to the librarian immediately. Failure to do so could result in liability.
Rule 13
The library has the right to recall books during the loan process for the following circumstances: inventory coordination book binding.
Rule 14
If the reader reads during an inappropriate time, and the book is forfeited the reader will lose borrowing rights for one month.
Rule 15
Borrowing rights will be stopped if the book is found and returned by a third party.
Rule 16
The rules may be amended if necessary.
Rule 17
These rules have been approved by the library advisory committee and submitted to the school principal. The same procedures will be followed for future amendments.
